Biography

Gabor Balatoni (1961) was born in Basel, Switzerland. He studied
economics and upskilled himself in history of art. Currently he lives and
works in Siofok, Hungary. He started out as a self-taught artist. His early
work as a painter emerged from a personal inspiration for the magical
landscapes created by medieval Dutch and Flemish painters. In recent
years, however, his artistic style shifted towards the conceptual interest
in abstract art. At the same time the intensity of light and colour and its
vibrant effect in the painting became increasingly important. His
compositions reflect the interplay between figurative forms, colour and
light and emphasize new forms redesigned in different configurations.
